Columbia County Board of Elections Announces Changes to Polling Sites

The Columbia County Board of Elections has consolidated election districts and polling sites in an effort to reduce election costs.  Faced with increased costs to deliver elections caused by the mandatory use of the new optical-scanner voting machines, the board has consolidated the number of election districts county-wide from 58 to 52 and has reduced the number of poll sites from 42 to 34.  The consolidation efforts will save taxpayers more than $35,000 each year.

The poll site changes take effect for the county-wide primary election to be held on September 13th from noon until 9:00 PM.

Residents whose polling location has changed will receive a green postcard from Columbia County Board of Elections indicating their new poll site.  In addition, signage will be placed at the old poll site directing voters to the new location.
