Description:

                                               Street Maintenance and Trash Pick-up
The DPW maintains all city streets and Parks. Activities, depending upon the season, include: Street Cleaning, Paving and Patching, snowplowing, lawn mowing and decorating for holidays.
Free Leaf Pick-Up is provided on pre announced Days in the Fall only.
Removal of Large items-furniture-are picked up on pre announced days, twice a year, (Spring & Fall) and upon pre-payment of the required fees. Watch for announced days for these pick ups and schedule of fees in the Register Star newspaper.

The City of Hudson no longer provides bus service.  A new system operated by Columbia County now provides Bus Service between Hudson and Greenport.

 

 

                                          
 

 

                                               WATER AND SEWER DEPARTMENTS 
Trained Staff at each of these facilities operate and maintain our City's water supply and sanitary sewer systems.

Fees for these services, Water & Sewer Rents, are set by the Common Council each year and billed quarterly to owners of property.

Present  Rates $51.00- Sewer  $52.00 - Water  Per Quarter. (Non Metered) 

 

 

 

 

                                     

 

                                                         CEMETERY DEPARTMENT 

The Hudson City Cemeteries are maintained and operated under the Supervision of the Commissioner and Superintendent of Public Works.

The Cedar Park Cemetery operates Monday through Friday bewteen the hours of 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM.

2011 Water & Sewer Rates

Water and Sewer Rates for FY 2011 remain unchanged from FY 2010.

On Monday, December 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM the City of Hudson opened all bids relating to the construction and upgrade of its Waste Water Treatment Plant, South Front Street Pump Station as well as various sections of Gravity Sewer and Force Main.  The attached tabulation represents only the summary numbers, as provided by each bidder.

 

ALL LOW BIDDERS MUST BE EVALUATED TO ENSURE THE MEET MIMIMUM BID REQUIREMENTS.

General Summary of 2011 SARA Grant Applciation
It has been officially announced that the Hudson trolley bus will be discontinued on February 28th.  On March 1st shuttle transportation will be available through Columbia County Transport Hudson-Greenport bus line. 
Pursuant to Subpart 5 of the NYS Sanitary Code, the City of Hudson must provide an annual synopsis of all laboratory tests completed on its potable drinking water.  For 2010, the City of Hudson Water Department produced and delivered 386,550,000 gallons to the residents, businesses and visitors of the City of Hudson and was 100% compliant with all parameters and critieria.
Assistant Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator 

In 2011, the city of Hudson completed a $12.5 Million-dollar upgrade of its Activated Sludge Waste Water Treatment Plant.  We are currently recruiting a licensed NYS DEC Licensed 2A Operator to become part of our team.  The new plant utilizes the most current technology and is responsible to treat 6 MGD, while disinfecting an additional 11 MGD.

 

FULL PERFORMANCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

 

Good knowledge of the practices used and the equipment which is required in the operation and maintenance of a TYPE 3A Wastewater Treatment Plant with facilities for the activated sludge process; working knowledge of the principles and applications of physics, chemistry and bacteriology as applied to sewage treatment and disposal; skill in the operation and repair of pumps, valves and related mechanical and electrical equipment; ability to read, understand and record data from gauges, scales and meters; ability to make routine laboratory and field tests for control of plant operation; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; mechanical aptitude; alertness and dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

MINI MUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

ASSISTANT OPERATOR (Grade 2A Operator):  Possession of a Grade 2A certificate issued by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation at time of appointment.

CIVIL SERVICE REQUIREMENT:  Employee will be provisional basis pending the results of the next Civil Service Examination for this title.  When the results of this examination are received, the applicant must attain a score high enough on the list to be eligible for an offer of appointment to this position.

 

COMPENSATION:

 

The 2012 base pay for the Assistant Waste Water Treatment will be $40,208.  New employees are eligible for medical, dental and eye coverage on either an individual or family basis.  Paid holidays and benefits are collectively negotiated between the City of Hudson and CSEA Local 1000.
